Jack’s Story – Life at Nexa with Jack Marriott

But we think it’s time we stopped talking about the theory and handed the microphone over to the people actually doing it.

Meet the consultant…

First up is consultant solicitor Jack Marriott, who is a property specialist. We asked Jack a few searching questions about his journey towards becoming a consultant solicitor and joining Nexa. This is what he said:

“For many years I was a partner at Charles Russell. I then joined GBH Law as a consultant and was with them in their property department for 10 years.

I found travelling into the city increasingly arduous and decided I wanted to work from home full-time. I was lucky enough to have a separate workspace at home so joining Nexa has really made my life easier – and given me back lots of time I used to spend commuting.

I joined Nexa in 2020 and being my own boss and having the autonomy to work the way I enjoy working has also been a huge plus point for me. It means I have much more control over the hours I work and this flexibility has really improved my quality of life.

If I was to give one piece of advice to a lawyer thinking of becoming self-employed as a consultant, I’d say have confidence in your ability to be your own boss, it’s not as daunting as you imagine and the positives far outweigh the negatives!”
