It’s nexa’s fifth birthday this month and we can’t believe how the time has flown – one minute you’re nursing your new baby, the next they’re all grown up!
Given that we were a little pre-occupied, it’s easy to forget just how many other things happened in 2017, but it’s worth remembering that it was a turbulent time in many respects:
At nexa we have come a long way in a short space of time, from being approved by the SRA as an alternative business structure in March 2017, through our mergers with Peregrine law and Goldstein Legal and our recent appointment of Gideon Moore (previously global managing partner at Linklaters).
Despite this evolution, our original vision for nexa, to be a new look law firm doing law in a different way, remains unchanged. When Eliot Hibbert founded nexa, he wanted to harness the power of self-employed lawyers by giving them the flexibility and freedom to work the way they wanted to, to fit in with their personal circumstances and enhance their work/life balance.
Today, our CEO Nigel Clark is a passionate advocate for modernising and diversifying the legal sector and as a proud champion of 2to3days, is committed to equality and inclusivity in the workplace.
Five years ago, we were outliers and could never have foreseen the pandemic and the seismic shift in attitudes and working practices it has precipitated in such a short space of time. But, today we feel vindicated as the flexible, “hybrid” model appears to have taken root in so many workplaces. We still don’t tell our lawyers where or how to work, but we provide them with all the support and assistance they need to do their job.
The next five years….
We currently have 120 lawyers and don’t intend to stop growing, we have exciting plans to expand our offering this year with our new product for law firms, Connex as well as implementing a grown-up rebrand and re-designed website. We can’t wait to see what the next five years brings, happy birthday nexa!
We have everything you need for you to run your own legal business hassle-free.
