Background

Dispute resolution has always played a key role in Serena’s case management strategy as a solicitor and in 2010 she qualified as a mediator with Clerks room. A fully accredited civil, commercial and workplace mediator, Serena is a Panel Mediator for the Civil Mediation Council in both Commercial and Workplace disputes, and has recent experience in both. She is also a Panel Mediator and committee member of the Association of South West Mediators (ASWM),a member of the Society of Mediators (London) and Mediator Network, and is associated with and supports a number of charitable organisations. Serena is fully conversant with the European Code of Practice for Mediators 2004. Serena is passionate about dispute resolution and has been instrumental in establishing our ‘nexamediate’ panel.

Serena has been mediating online throughout the COVID pandemic and will continue to do so, with in-person or blended mediations now resuming as well. Serena can often conclude a mediation within a 2-4 week window (including preliminary meetings, if any).

Mindful of the pressures and distraction faced by businesses and litigants, Serena can ensure each mediation provokes minimal business interference but offers maximum opportunity for a resolution that is enduring and satisfactory for all involved, including (as the case may be) businesses’/ HR & Employee Relations personnel, and legal representatives.

Serena is also a Commander in the Royal Navy Reserve and is currently Commanding Officer of HMS Vivid, having undertaken and been appointed to a number of tactical and strategic roles throughout her naval career. Her diverse management roles within the military include an Equality Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) advisory role, thus equipping her well for any workplace disputes.

Serena has significant experience in business, and as a senior stakeholder more generally, and therefore understands the many pressures and influences in the commercial world when complex disputes arise.
